1. The baller. Not only are we told that she’s “ambitious, restless, [and] intellectually acute,” but, as Politico noted, she “even shares the president’s love of a good, grinding pick-up basketball game.” Say what? She enjoys a “grinding pick-up basketball game”? Well now, that settles it then. Bust out the basketball trunks, throw on a jersey, and move yourself straight to the front of the line for a lifetime position on the most powerful court in the world! What could go wrong? As an aside, can you even imagine Kagan “grinding” on the court?

2. She’s one of us. From the mouth of Barack, a Kagan confirmation would be “more reflective of us as a people than ever before.” And if by “reflective,” the president means that most Americans go from Princeton to Oxford to Harvard to the University of Chicago… then back to Harvard, well yes, Kagan’s mug should replace Lincoln’s on the $5 bill because she’s so “reflective” of America.

3. Feminine products. At Harvard, Kagan gained popularity by offering “free coffee outside classrooms and free tampons in the women’s restrooms.” Surely, these were exactly the type of qualities Thomas Jefferson sought when picking a justice.

4. The tokens. Kagan herself tells us that she strove to “bring people together,” specifically by hiring conservative professors. Obama touts this as “openness to a broad array of viewpoints.” Um, so let’s get this one straight. As the dean of one of the nation’s most prominent law schools, she took steps to introduce her students to different opinions and thus fulfill the mission of a university? The left is asking us to pat her on the back for doing her job? Okay, fine. Let’s buy her a meat-lovers pizza and call it even. Besides, out of the 43 hires she authorized, only 3 were conservative. Big deal.

5. Born in the U.S.A. “Elena is the granddaughter of immigrants,” Obama boasted of his pick, which is to say that Kagan’s parents’ parents immigrated to this country. And that makes her special again how?

6. Triple Axel. Kagan, we’re told, improved “student life” at Harvard with a “revamped student center, an upgraded gym and an ice-skating rink” that also “doubled as a volleyball court.” Did I miss the memo, or is the Supreme Court now the new training grounds for the 2012 Olympics?

7. Justice Pavarotti. Pete Williams of NBC News recently affirmed Kagan as an “accomplished poker player [and] opera lover,” which, as we know, are grounds for a swift confirmation, no?

8. Toilet preference. Obama describes Kagan as a "trailblazing leader" for being the first female solicitor general and the first female dean of Harvard’s law school, as if we're supposed to judge her fidelity to the Constitution because she happens to use the ladies room.

9. Good news: Kagan ain’t deaf. Television legal analyst Lis Wiehl gushed that the Supreme Court nominee ran Harvard Law with “grace” and is an “avid listener.”

10. Kagan actually “welcomed the military to campus.” So says White House shill Valerie Jarrett, even though Kagan authored a memo bragging that she “reinstated” the school's ban on the military in the Spring of 2005, but reluctantly lifted the ban in the Fall of that same year, after the Department of Defense threatened to “withhold all possible funds if the Law School continued to bar the military” from Harvard.

Comedy Central Bows to Intimidation and pussies out of airing an episode of South Park as it was intended to be shown.
After an ominous threat from some dickhead at a radical Muslim website, the US network that airs the program removed a key speech from the second of two episodes set to show the Prophet Muhammad in in a bear costume.
The incident provides the latest example of how media conglomerates are still struggling to balance free speech with safety concerns and religious sensitivities.
I have a great idea on how to achieve balance. Grow a set and tell these extremists to fuck off! We have the 1st Amendment. Don't be afraid to use it! (while we still can).
Comedy Central declined to comment on the latest incident, but the creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, clearly disagreed with the channel's handling of the situation.

They had applied a modicum of satirical self-censorship to the second episode, bleeping out mention of the prophet's name and covering his figure in a box marked ''censored''. But a statement posted on their website said that executives ''made a determination to alter the episode'' without their approval and that the usual wrap-up speech from one character did not mention Muhammad ''but it got bleeped too''.



The mainstream media has been largely silent on this issue of "Religious sensitivity at the point of a gun". It seems to me that when, say, Christian groups have merely organized protests or advertiser boycotts against media content they find offensive they've widely denounced as "chilling" free speech.

Parker and Stone’s upcoming Broadway musical The Book of Mormon hasn’t provoked any death threats, only an angry letter or two.

For those of you that are less well-read, the "Squealer" in the title is a reference to a character from Animal Farm-the dystopian allegorical novella by George Orwell, aka Eric Arthur Blair.

Squealer: A small white fat porker who serves as Napoleon's right hand pig and minister of propaganda. Squealer manipulates the language to excuse, justify, and extol all of Napoleon's actions. Squealer limits debate by complicating it and he confuses and disorients, making claims that the pigs need the extra luxury they are taking in order to function properly, for example. However, when questions persist, he usually uses the threat of the return of Mr Jones, the former owner of the farm, to justify the pigs' privileges. Squealer uses statistics to convince the animals that life is getting better and better. Most of the animals have only dim memories of life before the revolution; therefore, they are convinced. In the end, he is the first pig to walk on his hind legs.

Declaration of Health Care Independence

In order to retain the Blessings of Liberty as secured to us by our Founding Fathers and as expressed in our Constitution, We the People reject the imposition upon us of a new, Washington-controlled system of government-run health care. We demand Constitutional protection of the right to make our own health decisions and our own health care choices free of government denials, bureaucratic red tape and greater intergenerational debt.

A Washington takeover of American health care will:

• Deny fundamental personal and economic liberties and indisputably violate the Principle of Limited Government as established by the Constitution;
• Impose increased costs and taxes upon individuals, families and businesses, as well as taxpayers at the federal, state and local levels;
• Irreparably cripple the American economy, at the cost of jobs, businesses, productivity, and quality of life;
• Create an inescapable new tax by imposing individual and employer mandates;
• Institutionalize a massive, ever-expanding federal bureaucracy that is impersonal and impractical;
• Empower bureaucrats to interfere in the doctor-patient relationship, undermine the quality of care, limit choice, and increase the cost of health care.

We have appealed to the decency of the elected majority to respect the rights of all Americans, but their leaders have been deaf to the Voice of the People. We are appalled by their cavalier disregard of the Constitution and of the demands of the People. We are repulsed by their blatant political bribes and kickbacks.

We, the People and Representatives of the United States of America, therefore, do solemnly Publish and Declare that health care reform, as a matter of principle, must:

• Protect as inviolate the vital doctor-patient relationship;
• Reject any addition to the crushing national debt heaped upon all Americans;
• Improve, rather than diminish, the quality of care that Americans enjoy;
• Be negotiated publicly, transparently, with genuine accountability and oversight;
• Treat private citizens at least as well as political officials;
• Protect taxpayers from funding of abortion and abortion coverage;
• Reject all new mandates on patients, employers, individuals, or states;
• Prohibit expansion of taxpayer-funded health care to those unlawfully present in the United States;
• Guarantee Equal Protection under the law and the Constitution;
• Empower, rather than limit, an open and accessible marketplace of health care choice and opportunity.
